Safe Space trained Sexual Assault Advocates provide support for survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones. You can call us immediately after experiencing violence, weeks later, or even years later. Our Crisis Help Line (1-800-620-6120) operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year. We support survivors of all types of sexual violence: rape, assault, harassment, stalking, incest, and adult survivors of child sexual abuse.
Our Advocates Can:
- Talk with you over the phone or meet with you face-to-face
- Provide emotional support
- Go with you to the hospital
- Go with you to the police to make a report
- Go with you to court appointments
- Give you information about laws
- Give you information about other services, like support groups and therapy
- Help you find books or other resources that you might find helpful
- Answer questions about your healing process
What is Sexual Assault?
Sexual assault is any unwanted sexual contact or attention achieved by force, threats, bribes, manipulation, pressure, tricks or violence. Sexual assault may be physical or non-physical and includes rape and attempted rape, child molestation and incest, and sexual harassment.
Strangers and, more often, acquaintances, friends or relatives commit sexual assault. Anyone can become a victim of sexual assault, regardless of age, race, gender, sexual identity, or income level. Rape has nothing to do with attractiveness, appearance or behavior.
Rape and sexual assault are about power, control, and anger and are crimes of violence. These crimes are not motivated by sexual desire. Rapists use sexual violence as a weapon to control, humiliate and hurt their victims. Sexual assault of any type is never the victim’s fault. No one ever “asks for” or deserves to be sexually assaulted.

Safe Space Programs
Safe Space provides programs for both raising awareness about sexual violence and teaching prevention skills. We teach youth and adults:
- What to do if they experience violence
- How to recognize warning signs of violence in order to prevent it
- How to avoid bullying and cyber-bullying others
- How to safely intervene as active bystanders
Our programs are age-appropriate. We provide programs to youth and adults with disabilities, and we offer programs in Spanish.
